"Hi, my mum has been diagnosed with muscle invasive aggressive bladder cancer, she is to unwell to have her bladder removed, they gave her palliative radiation which did what they said and help a lot of her problems, we know that there is nothing to be done, and it has been 10 months since the radiation, she has been really good, but the infections have started again, they put her on antibiotics all the time but it seems they are not working now she had stronger ones 3 weeks ago which cleared up the infection, but she has another one today, they have said just keep taking the original ones, we live in Spain so it is quite hard with the language to understand, but I would like to know what to expect, it's so hard for both of us."

  1. @Gill - I am so sorry to hear that your mother is struggling and has been for a while. I find that making sure my water intake is higher than usual when I have symptoms of any infection. I do not know if that will help her at all as it seems from your post that she is under medical care and receiving treatment. Infections seem to come and go and some seem to be more difficult than others. I wish I had some advice other than to send hugs and prayers your way for both you and your mother. Please keep us posted on how things are going and know that you are in our thoughts. Linda Urbanski ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

  2. thank you so much, sending hugs to you too xx

  3. hi. How is your mum doing this week? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

  4. Hi, she is not too good this week, she is very scared in what's to come, nobody will tell her, she has a lot of discharge, lots of stinging and some blood, my mum just wants to know how bad it will get, so hard to find the answers for her she has done so well, we knew it would rear it's ugly head again, she said she is not ready to die, I find it so hard to help, the palliative care in spain is really not good, xx

  5. @Gill - I am sorry to hear that your mother is not doing well this week. Are their any other treatment options that she can try? In my opinion you being there for her is important. Knowing what may or may not come in the future may only create more stress and anxiety for her. I hope that there are other alternatives that may work for her. Please keep us posted and sending prayers your way. Linda Urbanski ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

  6. thank you, no other options, I think the hardest part is just waiting, she has done so well and embraced life, but I think with all these side effects it brings it home that it is still there, we are lucky we live next door so I am always on hand, thank you for your thoughts I will keep you posted xx

  7. Hi. I am sorry to hear she is having a not so good week. The fear of the unknown is the worst. Is it possible for you to speak to her medical team to try and get some answers for her? I hopBladderCancer.net

  8. @Gill - Your mother is very lucky to have you so close by and so concerned with her well being and comfort. Sending continued prayers your way. 11. hi. just checking in. How are you doing? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

  12. Hi, not too bad it seems mum's cancer has fired up again, she has had 9 months since radiation and been great, but it does not last forever, it seems now she knows she is handling it really well, we asked the doc if he knew how long but they never say, so just take each day at a time, thank you for asking x

  13. I am sending your both my healing thoughts at this time. We are always here to listen. Take care. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net
