"I completed my first six Mitomyacin bladder infusions about a month ago. My bladder function has pretty much returned to normal and I'm back at work. The treatments left me extremely fatigued to the point where I really couldn't do my job which is physically demanding. I return to the urologist on May 21st for a Cystoscopy and hopefully the cancer is gone. If not, I will have to undergo 6 more bladder infusions which will put me out of commission for anther 7 or so weeks. "
Hi @shortecapone! I'm glad to hear you've completed your first 6 infusions and are back at work now. We often hear of fatigue from bladder cancer treatment, and that must have been extra difficult since your job is physically demanding. Let us know how the scope on the 21st goes, and how you're feeling about it. I hope they will find that the cancer is gone! Fingers crossed for you. Take care, Sarah (BladderCancer.net Team Member)
I left the procedure somewhat confused. My bladder didn't appear inflamed like the original cystoscopy, but I had a dozen or so spots or lesions on the inner wall of my bladder. Most of these had what looked like scabs that he could blast away with a jet of water from the scope. A couple of them wouldn't come off and would bleed when trying to do so. He believes the tumors are healing and wants to do another cystoscopy on July 27. If the spots are still there he wants my to undergo BCG infusions. He said BCG is becoming more readily available. I just think after 6 weeks after Mitomyacin infusions ended, I would think there would be scars instead of red spots on my inner bladder wall. But I'm not a doctor
Hi @shortecapone,
I can see how your recent cystoscopy might have left you a bit confused. Sometimes in the moment it's hard to process everything and ask questions while it's happening. That's great news your doctor said he believes the tumors are healing, I'm hoping your next cystoscopy is clear. I can only imagine how frustrating it might be to need another round of BCG infusions. I'd encourage you to ask your doctor at your next cystoscopy about the chance of bladder scarring from BCG as you consider this for your next treatment. In the meantime, keep us posted on how you are feeling. We know the time between scopes can be stressful, so remember that we are here for you if you ever want to talk.
Take care,
