A question?

Hello! I am new to this site but would appreciate contact! My husband, aged 85, recently had a TURBT where a large tumour was resected! He also had a bit of prostate removed (he has caP but no spread so just PSA’s every 6 months) He also had a temporary ureteric stent inserted! Lymph nodes normal! Is it normal to have catheter in for 10 days after this op and can urine be darkish! comments really appreciated! Also is it normal to feel fatigued after this op? Thank you Cx

  1. @Cynthis - Welcome to this group. I wish we were "meeting" under better circumstances but we are all here to provide information from our personal experiences and of course provide support. As for your question on the catheter. I am not a medical professional but I had one with both of my TURBTS and it keeps the urine flowing out should there be any inflammation from the procedure. As for the dark urine - that also is from the procedure and means that your husband needs to increase his water intake. It is imperative to drink plenty of water - the recommended amount is at least 1/2 your weight in ounces each day. Keeping hydrated is good for the body in general and will help with the healing post op. Urine should be very light in color to show good hydration. No lymph node involvement is good news. I hope that this helps out. Please feel free to ask any questions. My best Linda Urbanski (moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
