BCG treatment

I'm starting treatment Wednesday.
I have an active bladder problem.
My treatment will be 1/2 hour after that I will go home. It is a 1-1.25 hour drive. I'm concerned that I will have to urinate before I get home. I will take a bottle with me. I realize it is ideal to keep the BCG in the bladder for 2 hours and the Dr. realizes I many not be able to do this.
But my main concerns are with about getting urine on my hands and legs. How do I deal with this?

  1. @hkpvmam - I did not choose to have BCG but might suggest that if you are concerned about being able to make it home before having to expel the BCG, maybe see if you can stay at the doctors office just in case. I know that there are certain things that need to be done after expelling the BCG into the home toilet so it certainly would not be safe to use a public toilet and probably not try to use a bottle. I have read of people who are not able to hold the BCG for long and need to expel it quickly so I would discuss your concerns with your doctor beforehand. Best of luck with your treatments. 1. appreciate your help. I have discussed it with the doctor and he feels that I can urinate in a receptacle.

      1. @hkpvmam - well that is great that you have an answer from your doctor. Good luck with the treatments. My best Linda Urbanski ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
