New treatment

2 turbts, 6 BCG treatments, now cysto today revealed new tumors in different areas of bladder...now they want to do gemcitabine....anyone had that chemo treatment put in bladder,??

  1. I had a TURBT in January and February of 2023 and then Gen/Doce chemotherapy injections 4 weeks later for 6 weeks in a row due to my choice of not wanting BCG treatments after researching them for a few weeks and just didn’t like what I was hearing about side affects and came across a study of BCG VS GEN/Doce and found that Gen/Doce has a better rate of non recurrence and very low side affects so went with the Gen/Doce and no side affects for me personally and no recurrence so far ! I’m very happy with my decision and currently on 12 month maintenance and go back in early October for another look with camera then 6 month interval! Good luck with your decision and hope this helps!

    1. I have had 5 of the 6 gem/doce treatments so far...no side affects...last next week and then wait 6 weeks till checkup...that is my only worry...hope mine works as well as yours did...

    2. Glad you’re not having any bad side effects ! Wish you the best ! Just had my second look with my urologist and his camera and all is fine and advised to continue with monthly maintenance and come back in 3 months so hopefully you’ll get same results in about 7 weeks!! Just remember to keep your head up and be positive!!!! Let us know what results you receive and I’m looking forward to celebrating on your good news !!

  2. I had the turbts most recent and the gemcitabine I had no adverse reactions, I go to see my doctor again in 2 wks to see the effects. I was also treated with an emunotherapy drug which I took for a month prior. I'm waiting to see my results. Hope for the best

    1. I hate the waiting ! I wish you the best and stay positive! All my friends and family were like you don’t seem to be worried about this at all, I told them that I couldn’t do anything to change it and that I would NOT let it beat me and I’ve just stayed positive and I hope you all do the same! Best of luck and please keep us updated!

      1. I had 1 years back 1st time bladder cancer - Stage Ta, low grade.
In our year checkup I have recursion again State Ta, low grade.

I will undergo gemecitabine/docetaxel chemo for 1year intravesical.

if anyone can tell is it good drug - will it prevent the coming back of cancer, any experience to share please?

        1. - I had those drugs after my immunotherapy did not work and I had more tumors come back than I started with...had treatments every week for 6 weeks...no after affects at all...all clear on my next check up..Surprised you will do them for a year...I had high grade, noninvasive - not in muscular wall....Have had 2 clear checkups now and 3rd one coming at end of July....Hope it works as well for you...
