When Post Treatment Screening Ends

In November 21, I had my 4th and penultimate annual CT Scan. The results were all clear with continued NED (No Evidence of Disease). I was of course apprehensive waiting for the result and delighted with the outcome. However, knowing the next scan is last scan makes me nervous. The scan is like a reassurance all is ok. How do other cope when the post-operative screening ends? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

  1. - Will you have the opportunity for further testing since you said you were stage 4? I thought that there was always some sort of treatment for more advanced stages and am just curious. Thanks and best to you. LInda Urbanski ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

    1. hi. As I had a total pelvic exenteration which removed all my pelvic organs and had negative margins and no lymph node involvement , the screening in Scotland is set until 5 years. The surgery is radical but also done with the intention to cure rather then just treat the cancer. The view is, the radiation risk from a Ct scan to cause cancer is greater then the risk of the cancer returning after 5 years clear. Laura, Moderator, BladferCancer.net
