My Story
On February 24th, 2022, I noticed blood in my urine with no associated pain. A few days later, my town was hit by a devastating flood, destroying the doctor's office I used to visit. I sought alternate care and tests ruled out infection but revealed a two-centimeter mass in my bladder.
Bladder cancer tumor recurrence
My GP referred me to a specialist, and after initially being given an appointment three months later, I was called in the next day due to a cancellation caused by the flood. On April 1st, 2022, I underwent a TURBT procedure to remove the tumor, which was identified as a High-Grade Urothelial Carcinoma Non-Invasive. I am now undergoing Cystoscopic surveillance every six months, and during the second surveillance, regrowth was found, leading to a recommendation for BCG treatment. I have completed two out of six weekly BCG installations and have experienced minimal problems. I feel fortunate, especially considering I take a blood thinner for atrial fibrillation, which likely caused the tumor to bleed prematurely.
