A Urostomy Changes Your Life
When I was told, in 2017, I had bladder & prostate cancer. I was terrified. I was informed of several choices, but best was to have a full urostomy. The wound care dept was very helpful and instructful. At first, I had leakage, and the barrier would not stay adhered to. I would forget to empty the bag, and it overflowed and leaked under the barrier etc. I tried several styles and have found the 2 peice, cut to fit the best. I am lucky under most conditions. I change the bag twice a week (3-4 days) and the barrier will last 7 days. In hot, humid weather, sooner may be required. After 5 years, all have become routine. You can live a normal life with very few restrictions.
This is my story.
