I’ve been diagnosed with stage 3 bladder cancer with metastasis to lymph nodes. I am currently taking strong chemo. I will soon have to make a decision about which surgical option I want when the bladder is removed. I would like to know what other women chose and if you are now happy with that choice.

Hi @jay60, that is quite a big decision you have coming up. We’re glad you came here for answers from others. I’d like to share with you a video by one of our female contributors where she discusses making this decision: https://bladdercancer.net/video/deciding-between-bcg-cystectomy/. We also have another article about that here too: https://bladdercancer.net/caregiver/challenge-deciding-have-bladder-removed/. You might get more response from others by posting your inquiry to our Q&A’s here (https://bladdercancer.net/q-and-a/). I hope that hearing from others in the community will help. Hi @jay60, that’s interesting that your surgeon said the neobladder is not as successful for women. Did he or she explain the reason why? I saw you recently submitted your inquiry to our Q&A’s – excellent! We’ll also be sharing the link to your question on Facebook this evening to gather additional response. I hope to hear more from others on this topic. -Sarah (BladderCancer.net Team Member)

Thank you Sarah. My main interest is which surgery, outside pouch, inside pouch or neo bladder. The surgeon is telling me that the neo bladder is not as sucessful for women.
