immunotherapy opdivo side effects

i have to make a decision by sept. on if i want to enroll. i received only 1 treatment of chemo before the operation i reacted badly to the chemo.i had the operation done (cystoscopy) but they found microscopic traces of cancer in one lymph node out of 50. anyone out there who can share their experience with receiving immunotherapy would help me make an intelligent decision.
thanks
ed

  1. Hey ! You've got a big decision coming up, here to support you as best I can. I know none of this is easy but want to let you know whatever choice you make will be the best.

As people respond, I wanted to share some resources and a few links with you on Opdivo.

Here's a comprehensive background on Opdivo and its side effects:

This is a previous contributor who was on Opdivo, you can search her Jennifer Toth and find her articles here https://bladdercancer.net/author/mommax7 to read more on her experience.

Here's an article from another advocate who writes about her experience on immunotherapy (though a different one) https://bladdercancer.net/living/keytruda-experience-side-effects

I know September is pretty soon, I'm rooting for you every step of the way. - Jada (bladdercancer.net team member)

    1. hi jada
thanks for your response and info. i found it useful.i'm going for an mri and cat scan in early august if the results are good i'm going to opt for monitoring if they show cancer i'll opt for immunotherapy.
      thanks

  2. @hideho - Ed - Am I correct in that you had a cystectomy - (bladder removal) and the biopsy showed cancer in one lymph node? There are many words that are not common to us as we navigate this journey and it is easy to confuse them. Are you doctors suggesting immunotherapy and what are their thoughts considering your bad reaction to chemo? I have heard of that immuno but have not had chemo post op myself. Good luck to you

    1. @hideho - Sorry to hear that you had problems with the chemo. Was it mitomycin after RC or the start of a chemo regiment? Chemo - like many treatments for BC seems to affect people very differently. I will be hoping to good results from your upcoming MRI. Please keep up posted on how things are going. My best. 2. @hideho - Fingers crossed that you are cancer free and you can just continue with scans. Please keep us updated on how things go and know that we are here for you and supporting you all the way. My best. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
