My Experience with Radiotherapy

I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in May 2011, I received (37x2Gy) Radiotherapy treatments, 7 years Hormone Therapy, so consider myself very lucky to be still here!

My local GP noticed via a blood test that I was anaemic and two days later I noticed quite a lot of blood in my urine, I went the next day an asked for an appointment at the doctors, I took a urine sample which contained blood. I was referred to the Urologist who carried out a cystoscopy and a tumor was indicated in the bladder. Followed up by a TURBT, then the results showed T2 invasive local bladder cancer, wow!

My PSA is currently at 0.03 and I was therefore very surprised with the results. I am not allowed anymore radiotherapy, due to the location of the previous treatment and therefore require RC. My point is, if anyone has had radiotherapy for prostate cancer and your PSA has not risen, you could still have BC, so please check it out!

  1. Hi I am so glad your doctors were proactive and on this. I am sure this was a shock to you. Thank you for sharing your story, it is so important to stay on top of things. We appreciate you opening up to our community. Jill (Team Member)
