Neo Bladder

I am a female and had my Neo Bladder surgery 6 years ago. Recovery was uncomplicated and tedious. Wore a catheter for 7 weeks afterward. For six years I leak urine every day and night. The surgeon wants to install a mesh to hold the Bladder but won’t guarantee it would help. I don’t want to go through another surgery having had other cancer surgeries.
If you are having mucus problems drink lemonade. The lemon breaks down the mucus. Let me know if anyone else had Neo surgery and has the same problem. Thanks.

  1. hi. I don’t have a neo bladder - I have a urostomy. I am told that diversion are similar in symtoms often.. So thanks for the tip of lemonade for mucus. Going to try for my urostomy. 1. Yea I have talked to them. The only thing the Urilogiat surgeon mentions is putting in a mesh. I don’t want another surgery and he can’t guarantee it will help. I did Keegals for a year and they didn’t help either.

      1. sorry they weren't able to offer a solution. I can understand not wanting more surgery. I feel the same. I would only have more surgery if absolutely needed in the future. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

    2. - It is difficult for someone to have the surgery you had and to have continuing issues afterwards. I am sorry that you have not been able to be continent but I know that not everyone is. I am not a medical professional but know of people who have had mesh surgery for different reasons and am sure that as with most procedures, it is not a guarantee. My question being - is he or she saying that because the statistics show it or just because there are not guarantees in life with anything and doctors say that. Are there any other options that you have to consider? Thank you for the tip on drinking lemonade - I have heard that before also. Wishing you the best and hoping that you can find a solution that fixes or reduces your daily leaks. My best Linda Urbanski (moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
