Who has used a stealth belt? What is your experience? Do you use a side one or a long one? Does it help when swimming? I miss swimming so much. My wafer leaks a lot.

Hope lol questions listed above are ok.

  1. Brenda _ Stealth Belt is a big contributor to our annual bladder cancer retreat so I am very familiar with the product itself but have never worn one personally, I know that people do love them but my suggestion is first figuring out why you are having leaks. I never had a problem when swimming with my bag on so I would reach out to your stoma nurse or Coloplast for suggestions. There are brava strips that you can put around your wafer (barrier) but you may have a small leak before you get in the water. I suggestion solving the leak issue first and looking into a hernia belt once that is taken care of. My fear is that that belt may hold your bag in place but you will still have the leak to contend with at some time. I hope you are able to get back to the activity you enjoy soon. My best to you. 1. @Brenda - How are you doing with the leaks now? I know how frustrating this can be at the beginning but hopefully after a short period of time and healing the leaks are very rare. Just wanted to check in to see how you are. My best Linda Urbanski (moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

    2. hi - Brittney share her experience here of exercising with an ostomy ad mentions she uses a stealth belt. https://bladdercancer.net/living/exercise-ostomy Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

  2. I swim with two stomas. I can’t give experience on the belt as never used it. For swimming as Linda says, getting flange extenders to secure the bag will help. I can perhaps help with leaks? Where is it leaking? Do you have dips in your skin? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

    1. I am very thin. I use the extenders as well as the tape around the wafer. I leak usually in three or less days. I use hollister brand. It leaks from the wafer. I had a collector y about 12 years ago and did not have this kind of problem. I managed to get a surgeon to do a reversal so I lost that one. The urostomy was about 1 1/2 years ago and have had lots of problems.
      I weigh only 81 lbs.
Don’t know what to do anymore.
      Thanks

      1. if your Ostomy is retracted and below skin level, Ostomy rings may help. There is also Ostomy tape or paste. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

      2. @Brenda - all Coloplast customer service if you do not have a stoma nurse who can help. I used Coloplast for assistance many times and they will definitely help you out with samples and follow up with you while you figure out what works. We have all been through this at some time or another and figured out what worked for us. You will also.!! My best. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

    2. - I swim all the time with a bag and never have issues. If your wafer is the problem, I am not sure if a stealth belt will help. That belt will support your bag so it does not pull on the wafer. If you are emptying it regularly as I assume you are, the weight of the bag may not be the issue. It seems that finding the root cause of your wafer leaks is the issue. I know that young children wear bags so your size may not come into the problem. A nu-hope belt will help hold that wafer in place as would swim suit bottoms but is that the issue? Possibly the adhesive is not working for you? Have your reached out to the manufacturers for help and guidance on this? I would hate to have you miss out on an activity that you enjoy is there is a solution. Please keep us updated as we want you in the water soon !! My best. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
