urine cytology
Has anyone ever had a cystoscopy that showed NED only to have their urine cytology come back suspicious or positive? I know it can happen, but I'm trying to get a sense of how often it does. Tomorrow will be three weeks since my cysto, and I still do not have urine test results. (I was told it could take three weeks which seems an inordinately long time). I feel unable to relax into contentment about a good cysto until I learn the cytology results.
@lauralg - 3 weeks does seem like a long time for urine test results. I had to have mine done again as it was too long after the sample for it to be accurate. Was your cysto white light or blue light? I am not a medical professional but know that I have read blue light is more accurate. Was your cysto a routine annual one? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net Thank you for your support and encouragement as I waited (impatiently) for the results of my urine cytology. I finally learned it was negative, or normal! What a relief. After repeated portal and phone messages as the wait time surpassed one month, a medical assistant claims she had to reach out to the lab to find out why it was taking so long. It's sometimes a delicate balance between being pesky and persistent.
