UCSF urologist recommendation

Looking for a urologist at UCSF for a friend newly diagnosed. Any recommendations?

  1. Hi kim1192, thanks for reaching out on behalf of your friend. I hope that someone in the community may be able to advise. We did some searching and found a directory of the urologists at UCSF. It looks like you can click on each one to learn more about their areas of expertise: https://www.ucsfhealth.org/directory/urology/. Also since you mentioned your friend was newly diagnosed, I thought this article might be useful: https://bladdercancer.net/living/just-diagnosed-whats-next/. Hope this helps. -Sarah (BladderCancer.net Team Member)

    1. Has anybody had any issues with the ileum/stoma being too snug/tight to get a catheter down? I'm having issues with the ileum being quite snug while putting a 14 gauge catheter in. It will go in but it's rather tight and I have to put pressure on it, Also have issues with the flap opening easily. I've folded catheters in half trying to get through.
I would appreciate any input on this matter.
Thank you so much and everybody have a happy holiday and Merry Christmas..

      1. Hi , thanks for coming to our forums with your question. Sorry to hear you've been having difficulty with the catheter. I too, would like to hear if anyone else has had this issue. Since this isn't exactly relevant to the current forum topic, would you be able to start a new one? All you have to do is visit this link: https://bladdercancer.net/forum/general-discussions/, and scroll down to where you see "Start a new topic" and paste your inquiry there! I look forward to gathering responses for you.

Hope you had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
