After RC kidney function

6 years after rc My gp seems concerned about . Kidney fuction Im worried.

  1. hi there. I understand you will be concerned. It is good they are keeping an eye on things. I know kidney function is something they check in my bloods - I had my RC, 5 years ago. Is your GP organising a scan for you? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

    1. they should be able to give them a good view of what is going on. Hope it is nothing to worry about. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

    2. @PCarr - I am not a medical professional but know that I have a kidney scan and blood work each year for this reason. Kidneys issues are something that is commonly watched post RC due to the possibility of infection and chronic kidney disease. Frequently a urologist will have regular testing to ensure that the kidneys are working properly. I would speak with your urologist about this versus your GP. I am almost 9 years post OP and still have regular testing to stay on top of things just in case. It may just be for the same reason but I suggest speaking with your specialist. Keep us posted and my best to you. Linda Urbanski (moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
