BCG

My tumor was removed, it didn't penetrate bladder wall. I start BCG treatments next week. Looking for someone going or gone through this. I'm afraid of reoccurrence. Wondering how treatments will affect me. Will appreciate feedback.

  1. Hi, I am in exactly the same situation but I have had 2 of 6 BCG treatments. I feel a little tired and have had urges to urinate which are hard to control, but in general feeling ok. Watch for urinary tract infections, I have had one that has delayed my 3rd BCG instllation but have antibiotics to get back on track. I'm sure your doctor will test for this. I don't know about re-occurence but know that BCG is the standard of treatment and is considered effective.

    1. glad to hear you treatment plan is back on track. Wishing you well with it. Take care and keep in touch to let us know how you get on. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

  2. Well I was diagnosed with high grade non invasive bladder cancer in June 2020. I had 3 separate TURBT'S and then started BCG immunotherapy. I had the 6 initial treatments followed by 3 and another 3 all three months apart. I finally finished with 2 in September 2021. It was halted because my bladder became very inflamed. Everyone has different responses to BCG some tolerate far better than others. I was one of the unluckier ones who developed chemical cystitis. I still suffer now with some pain and discomfort, I am told it will eventually lift.

    1. thanks so much for openly sharing your experience. Hoping the pain continues to ease for you. Wishing you a peaceful Sunday. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

    2. Jacaranda07 - I am not familiar with chemical cystitis but know that everyone has different side effects and reactions to the instillations can very.
