BCG for Ta Early Stage BC

50ml will be inserted into the bladder via a Suprapubic Catheter

Is it painful (ie the actual solution in the bladder )?

I have 6 induction weeks booked.

Anyone experienced this?

Thanks

  1. Hi there! Welcome to the community - it sounds like this is your first experience with BCG? Many people have a variety of experiences with BCG, you can read more about it here:
https://bladdercancer.net/stories/bcg-side-effects - this is a story submitted from another community member, though his diagnosis is not exactly the same as yours.
https://bladdercancer.net/living/expect-bcg-treatment - this article could be helpful in "setting the stage" so you don't feel so blind going into your treatment. I'm thinking maybe because you already have the catheter in place you may not deal with the discomfort that typically comes with that as well (silver linings, am I right?!).
We have a TON of information around BCG throughout our site but hopefully, this helps settle some of your nerves! Wishing you all the best. Please let us know how you make out! Warmly, Amanda (BladderCancer.net Team Member)

    1. @GeeT - I have not had BCG but know many people who have and they have done fine. I know that the after effects different between people but try not to worry about something that may no be an issue. I know with this disease that is a challenge but we are here to support you. My best to you Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

      1. Hi
I’ve had 2 series of 6 BCG and although it didn’t cure my cancer, I had absolutely no trouble with it. I know everyone is different but chances are it won’t be bad for you either. Good luck.

        1. Thanks for sharing your experience. You are right, no two experiences are the same. It is great though to hear from others going through the same thing. Hope you are keeping well. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

      2. Side effects built up after the 3rd infusion. By the 5th it was very painful and I felt very poorly.

Trouble is everyone is different !

Good luck, hope it works out for you

        1. thanks for sharing your experience. How are you getting on? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

        2. @GeeT. Definitely it is true that everyone reacts differently to BCG. Sounds like you are either done with your treatment which is good. Hope to here that it was successful. My best. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
