Going for have 4cm bladder tumor removed on 4/8/25

I’m going in on Thursday the 8th to have a 4cm tumor removed from my bladder. On march 18th I started bleeding bright red with 2 or 3 giant clots. After cystoscope the urologist sent me to a top notch guy. I stopped bleeding clots and bright red about a week ago. Now it’s just the slightest pink. I’m seeing Dr Ghodoussipour. The doctors are very vague with their diagnosis but they say it’s treatable. My head is spinning folks. I read horror stories about bladder cancer. My GP said don’t worry about it but the urologists are not that convincing. Can you folks please just talk to me. I’d rather know what I’m facing instead of being surprised. Thank you…Jt

  1. I am sure other community members will chime in here, but I just wanted to let you know as a cancer survivor myself that you are not alone! I know it can be scary when you are first diagnosed - people are throwing so much information at you and asking you to make decisions based on things you basically know nothing about. It is definitely anxiety-inducing, to say the least! Here are some articles that may help:

Overall, just know you are not alone, and we are here to help however we can. If that's just answering what questions we can, than that's fine too - we can't give you medical advice but we can certainly help to explain and provide information about what things are and what you may be able to expect! That, and we can certainly help with the whirlwind of emotions that you will experience - we've all been there ourselves and know what it's like! Let us know what happens! Keep on keepin' on, DPM

    1. Thank you

      1. Hope your surgery went well. I have had a number of tumors removed, that have not penetrated the bladder wall, over the last 3 years and continue to have a cystoscope every 4 months. This forum is a great place to gain additional insight related to bladder cancer, treatments, ask questions and to get a prospective on actual experiences.

        Wishing you the best!

        1. Hey Jeff, thanx for the reply. I went in on the 8th of May. The procedure was painless and they got it all. Went for an ultrasound and the tech slipped and said there’s nothing there. We’re going next Tuesday the 27th to talk to the surgeon and find out what’s next. The worst part was the catheter I had for the five days after my procedure. To me it was torture but I got through it. I’m a lucky man that I have a good wife that’s stays by me. If I can add one thing to getting past this is to make sure you keep your pee bottle or have one ready for when you have the catheter removed. You can’t pee straight. You’re going to pee all over the toilet. The seat the floor everywhere. You will have to pee in the in the bottle until you heal.
Jeff this next Tuesday visit to the doctor is weighing heavy on me. My wife will be there and my grown children will be there. This is a big deal. Jeff, I don’t know how to be sick. I’ve always done. I still have trouble believing this is happening.
