Bcg nurse said go have a coffee

Why should you drink coffee or have caffeine when that can cause bad side effects?

1st BCg. Only help it for 1.5 hours. Was told it doesn't matter. I also thought it's best to lay down and roll over to cover the full bladder. But once it was in. Sat up and then 1h later went home. Any thoughts ? Good luck all

  1. Try not to have any fluids for 6-8 hour prior to BCG. Usually I have a catheter placed and the BCG is instilled and then the catheter is pulled and I go home immediately. As you stand up the urine flows to the front of the bladder where the nerves are that stimulate the urge to urinate. I spend about 15min on each side then lie prone (on my stomach). After that I sit in my recliner and the back and deeper parts of the bladder areas retain the urine and the urge to urinate is less likely. I am male, so while I think it should apply to females also, everyone is different. good luck.

    1. fasting the. No caffeine. Or spices for 2 days also on keto to stop it comming back. Tha KS Xxx

  2. Sadly bcg in stand up and go and sit out side for a hour and then go in the car. No one said anything about lying on the back or sides. Thanks. I wish more information was available tbh

  3. Before my initial BCG treatments, I did plenty of reading and research on my own. Like others have posted, I avoid caffeine and limit liquid intake for several hours prior to the installation. It also seems the practice of laying down and changing positions while BCG is in the bladder is no longer necessarily advised, but I choose to follow the protocol to try to expose the entire bladder to the solution. I figure it certainly can't hurt.

    1. great advice. thanks for sharing. How are you getting on? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net
