Bladder Cancer: A Look Through My Eyes

I was expecting the procedures to improve the quality of my life; this is far from the truth. The damage done by the many cystotomies and radiation therapy has left me with permanent injuries. Had I not gone through these doctor-recommended procedures, I would have avoided these permanent injuries. The damage from the many cystostomies has made it so every trip to the bathroom is an urgent matter.

I have had multiple surgeries, with only two of them yielding the removal of any tumors. They have removed tissues that were only inflamed. No cancer cells were found in more than 15 different surgeries! They had me go in every three months to be checked for tumors for the first five years. Then, I was told I had prostate cancer. Taking the advice of my doctor, I did 45 rounds of radiation therapy. Don't do it! Don't let them remove your prostate, either. I can no longer maintain friction because of this. I also have been urinating blood ever since then.

This started in 2006, and today, I still deal with the side effects from the doctor-recommended procedures that have left me in a far worse position than I was when I started. I thought they knew what they were doing. They don't! I would not have done as they said had I known what I would deal with for the rest of my life.

  1. Hi I can hear how difficult this has been for you. You have had so much to deal with. I really wish you were not suffering so much with all these side effects. Jill (Team Member)
