Chemo for Bladder cancer

Why am I not seeing more info on chemo for B.C.. I can't get BCG at USC, only chemo. How is the success rate in comparison to BCG?

  1. hi. Sorry I am not medically trained. I don’t have any access to such stats. I am not sure if they exist. I think the many factors such as age, sex, previous treatment and stage and how invasive the cancer is will means state different from patient to patient with any treatment. How is the chemo going? 1. So far, so good. Cystoscopy every 4 months now with Blue Light

      1. that’s good news. Wishing you well for your next checkup. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

    2. Hi, I am not a doctor but I failed BCG treatments and have been given intravesical gemcitabine and now intravesical mitomycin. I believe that BCG has a higher percentage of success but I do believe that gemcitabine is also often successful.
You didn't list your stage and grade. Mine is low grade intermediate risk (I have had many recurrences). At the moment I am on a maintenance schedule of mitomycin. Last 2 cystos were No evidence of disease. I get checked again in November after my 3 weeks of mitomycin.
I'm going on 6 years of various treatments. So far no progression.
Hopefully the chemo will work for you too.

      1. thanks for your supportive post. Hope today is a good day for you. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net
