I have completed induction with BCG and on maintenance BCG,
I am having hematuria , frequency and dysuria even after 3 weeks of the last BCG , I was required to be admitted to control the pain
I am afraid the cancer has come back
Please share any experience on this
Thank you

@shashidhar - have you discussed these continued effects with your doctor? I did not have BCG but know that it effects people differently. Some may have an easy time with the initial BCG and then have it more difficult with the maintenance. I am not a medical professional and cannot provide medical advice but I would call your doctor and see what his/her thoughts are on this. Treatments such as BCG irritate the bladder. I would not jump to conclusions without more information. I hope that your side effects are under control soon and you have some answers. Keep us updated on how you are doing. My best to you. @shashidhar - Great news. We put our bodies and bladders through some very difficult and challenging treatments and surgeries and I would sometime expect that after effect might be more difficult at times also. Happy to hear that things are calming down and you are doing better. Thank you for the update and best of luck in beating this. Linda Urbanski ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

@shashidhar - Good to hear that you have some answers. It can be stressful to have only part of the information as our minds seem to come up with reasons that may not be accurate. Keep us posted on how you are doing and thank you for responding. My best Linda Urbanski ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

I would consult with your doctor first. In my experience over the past 8 years with BCG and Gemcitabine I experienced gross hematura often. After 18 BCG to which I was refractory and 15 Gemcitabine my bladder was extremely inflamed.
This is a journey in which everyone experiences different symptoms. Talk to your doctor or leave a message with their nurse and explain your situation. I just wanted to share my experience to let you know that it can also be normal.
Take care
