High Grade w BCG

I, myself had not had any symptoms. I did have a crazy er visit which turned into acute pancreatitis and a BS of 1000.
This was Nov 9, 2022… I spent 22 days in the hospital with what I thought was every test available to see what caused this.
My blood sugar had been normal?
There was a tiny amount of blood in my urine that the hospitalists didn’t bother with amongst other things w GI.
My organs took a severe beating during this time; which I have worked hard to reverse.
My primary Dr was concerned about the blood and set up the appt with a Urologist.
On May 30th, 2023 I went for an exam in Urology
The Dr met me in a small exam room with a gynecology table.

The nurse numbed my urethra and the Dr went through there to examine.
After a few minutes he said “ I am very sorry, however this is not good.”

We returned to his office where he told me I had bladder cancer- surgery was scheduled for June 1st.

They inserted a chemo slip at this surgery after the TURBT was done.
I woke up in recovery and was sent home.

At the follow up, I was told I hade High Grade Carcinoma Bladder cancer.

I needed another surgery… I went home in shock ( I’m still there) and waited for July 1st.

In recovery from #2 I was told that I would be starting treatment (BCG) on August 21st after my bladder recovers from the removal of 2- 5 cm tumors and another scraping.
It had not gone over the wall per the Dr.

At the follow up appt we talked about a radical cystectomy- he told me that only 5% survived this the first 30 days… I should do the round of BCG and we’d go from there.

So I wait💜

Meanwhile my joint and bone pain has been I believe dismissed by my primary who is weaning me off my pain meds.

I’m in pain and not feeling hopeful… I don’t know where or who to see for some guidance or help.

My treatments last into October~ any advice?
I live outside of Milwaukee

  1. Hi my heart goes out to you. I can hear how scary and overwhelming this has been for you. I can't even imagine how difficult it is to just have to wait while you are in pain. I would definitely encourage you to get another opinion, is there an oncologist in your area that you could see? I am sending you this article that lists resources for finding a specialized doctor in your area: https://bladdercancer.net/living/getting-second-opinion. We are here for you! You are not alone in this journey. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. Jill, bladdercancer.net team
