Neobladder

Hi I would like some information , in march this year I received my results from my turbt operation that i have stage 3 invasive cancer in my bladder, in may i started strong chemo (max dd )2xwk 6 sesions every 2wks . follow by a RC / neobladder operation ,
my surgeon gave me my mri results and the were clear ,
my oncologist wants to put me in a research program in canada,
immunotherapy 1x month for 12 months , the immuno is nivolomab he claims it been around many years for other use.
he claims with very little evidense (700 patience)that the results is a 10 % less recurense . with very little side effects .
I am having second thoughts I have to give my Dr and answer before dec , I am 63 in good health

  1. @CD2022 - I understand your hesitance to move forward without more supporting evidence that this would provide you with a benefit. I am not a medical professional but suggest asking for more information - such as the pros and cons of this treatment as well as the side effects. Also is there any downside if you start this and choose to not continue with it. I am not familiar with this treatment so I am not of any value in assisting in making your decision. Great news that you were clear post RC. My best Linda Urbanski ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

    1. @CD2022 - I have read recently of someone who had chemo after RC but I do not know specifically what it was. Also this person was given the option to have chemo pre RC or after and chose after. Hopefully you will have others post on here who can respond to your question. As moderators, we do want to show support for everyone even if we do not have personal expertise related to the question. Wishing you the best and hoping you have responses soon. 2. thanks again Linda

  2. unfortunately I don’t have any personal information to share nor am I medically trained. I would say you definitely have a right to ask more questions and some more detail of the statistics. Ultimately it up to you if you proceed but you definitely need all the facts to make an informed decision. Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net
