6 months since my neobladder surgery

In two weeks, it will be 6 months since my neobladder surgery. I am still experiencing pain and discomfort in the area of the operation. My inner thighs are still numb. The crevices between my thighs and privates feel warm like a rash, but look fine. The same thing is happening at my waistline. I still need to put my testicles in a support pouch. If I don't, they will hang and feel heavy. They also feel warm. There is a pain in my right testicle that will not go away. I scrub the area between my thighs and waistline every day.

I called the surgeon of my operation to tell them about these issues. His nurse told me that the healing process takes a longer time for some people. When I asked what the maximum time was before the things listed became a concern, they gave me the "different times for different people" excuse.

Can anyone who has had this operation give me some insight on when you felt somewhat back to normal? After 6 months, I feel there should be a sign of progress.

  1. Hi I am glad you reached out. I can understand why you are frustrated and are looking for some answers. It is true that each person's experience can be different and therefore, recovery time can vary. However, I know that is not what you want to hear. I am sending over this article from one of our advocates with their experience: https://bladdercancer.net/living/neobladder-surgery-recovery. I hope this is helpful and I really hope you can get some relief soon. Sending you lots of strength. Jill, bladdercancer.net team
