Newly diagnosed

I am terrified just waiting on a date for surgery. The urologist told me to expect to spend the night on the hospital. They are saying it is a large tumor and that scares me even more.

  1. Hey , sending you my best. This is probably one of the scariest situations to deal with but I just want to remind you that you're not alone. Happy you found us. What type of surgery are you gearing up to have? TURBT? - Jada (BladderCancer.net team member)

    1. Yes, I am waiting on a date for TURBT. I have already been told that it is a large tumor, so that scares me even more.

      1. Hey , I wanted to follow up and see if your doctor possibly set a date for the TURBT yet? Linda covered TURBT very well but I wanted to share a few articles:

I know how scary all of this is especially coming at you so quickly but please know many many others have also been in your shoes. Please take a look through the site and search TURBT, I hope it helps you feel a bit less nervous. - Jada (bladdercancer.net team member)

      2. how are you getting on? We are thinking of you. Laura, moderator

    2. @DDot - These treatments and surgeries can be frightening for sure. The procedure is to remove the tumor and give results from testing. The stage and grade of the tumor should be provided and hopefully having more information will ease your mind a bit. It is much easier to fight a battle when you know what you are up against. It may not be nearly as bad as your have imagined but fear of the unknown is real. Thinking of you and praying that things will go well. Just remember - you got this!!

      1. sorry you have to spend the night. I remember the anxiety waiting for a surgical date. Have had to reach myself to refocus when my mind keeps going to: I have bladder cancer. The tumors I had were large but they were successfully removed and then a second surgery for a deeper biopsy and to clean up debris and get one dose of mitomycin followed about a month and a half later. You will get through this.
