Not really sure what to do here.

Aloha, a team member question I think, however if someone can answer please do.
I had my TURBT two weeks ago an I’m now getting ready for my first BCG treatment.
In the article “Starting BCG Treatments: What to Expect Before, During, and After” (updated June of 2023), in paragraph two under “After the procedure” it says bleach the toilet every time you pee for the first (6) hours after the treatment. In paragraph three you say “Immediately bleach anything that comes in contact with the urine for a few days after treatment.”
For me, the big concern is the BCG treatment is 85 miles and (2) islands away. Simply said older men can't hold their pee long enough to travel that long, and I’m guessing TSA won’t let me carry a bleach jug around.

So the question, is it (6) hours or a few days, and your thoughts.

  1. First, as a fellow traveler, I thank you for being so considerate. Here are my thoughts. 1. Buy some disposable urine bags, a leakproof lunch container, and some disposable chlorine wipes. 2. Go through the security check point. 3. As needed, you can use a disposable urine bag, seal it, wipe any drips with the chlorine wipes, and place the urine bag in the waterproof lunch bag. 4. Repeat step 3 as needed. Regardless of how many times you change planes and airports, you should not have to go through security again on the way to your destination. To be cautious, press the air out of the urine bag as you close it. (Air expands a little at cruising altitude.) Good luck!

    1. Thanks for the kind words and the info. Do you happen to know any team members who I could ask the 6 hour vs 3 day question?

      1. Just completed my first 6 BCG treatments. I was told to bleach the bowl for 6 hrs following treatment. The nurse at the hospital told me it's probably just the first pee that has the virus in it, the rest of the bleaching was just to be on the safe side.

I'm not giving advice, just sharing what I was told.

        I can't imagine flying after a treatment - you're a much braver person than I am.

      2. Thanks, that's encouraging. As to flying, it's the only way back to Maui from Oahu.

    2. I'm sorry. I do not know anyone to ask.

      1. Wish you well, and Mahalo...
