What should I ask my doctor about out of fear of bladder cancer?

I'm looking at my CT scan which shows significant thickness of my bladder wall especially on the anterior wall. There are some other things that may or may not be of concern and I'm worried about being gaslit. What should I ask to advocate to check for cancer? I have cancer run rampant in my family and I don't want this to be put off of it possibly is. I was told it's possibly cystitis or an infection but was never given antibiotics. but I'm not so sure. TIA!

  1. Hi I am so glad you reached out. I can understand why you would be concerned and I think it is great that you are looking for ways to advocate for yourself. I think this article will help and it has links to other important information as well. Please keep us posted on what your doctor says. 1. Hi Stacy. A simple blood test would determine infection (positive/negative). The sequence in my case was blood test, sonogram, scope observation (to verify a mass present), and then a scope procedure to secure material for biopsy. Unfortunately in my case it was determined that I had small cell carcinoma of the bladder. Since time is not a cancer patient's friend, we proceeded quickly and aggressively with treatment. Hoping the best for you.
