Query Bladder Cancer

Hi Everyone,

Had pain during urination since 2015 and was diagnosed with Insterstitial Cystitis in May 2017 where they took a biopsy.

Been treated for IC but nothing worked so have given up.

Requested my medical records for life insurance and found a letter stating cancerous tissue found during the biopsy in May 2017.

No mention of this anywhere else in my records but having a stool, urine and blood test this week to follow up.

I am concerned as have lost 18lbs in 8 weeks and have pain to the right side of my back at the flank.

Has anyone ever been misdiagnosed with interstitial cystitis when they did in fact have bladder cancer?

Thanks

  1. While I can't speak to this specifically, I wanted to share an article with you written by one of our health leaders. Nick speaks of the symptoms and how things can unfortunately be misdiagnosed. I am also hoping some other community members will be able to chime in and share any experiences/feedback. In the meantime, have you reached out to your doctors to talk about this and ask them for clarification? If you haven't done so, I suggest getting in touch with someone whether you go back to the doctor who you saw before or find a new one to get a second opinion. Below you will find the article. If you're feeling up to it, please keep us posted and remember, we're here for you so don't hesitate to reach out if you need something!
