Should I avoid alcohol if I have non-invasive bladder cancer?

I am not a big drinker but I do love red wine when I go out for dinner. I haven’t consumed any alcohol for the last 4 weeks, since I started my BCG treatment, but I would love the occasional glass of wine. What do you think?

  1. Hi Andy, it’s an interesting question and one I have asked my urologist. His response was drinking or smoking could effect or irritate your bladder whilst in treatment. I would suggest you speak with your medical team and see what they have to say. I decided against drinking whilst in treatment and I don’t smoke anyway, but I don’t believe it’s a definitive no to whether you can or can’t have a drink with non-invasive bladder cancer. 1. Thanks again Noel. I don’t smoke or drink heavily but I love wine. I haven’t taken alcohol since I started my BCG but would like guidance as to whether it is damaging to the bladder.

      1. I don't. I drink in moderation along with everything else. My motto: life is short; eat dessert first.
