Upcoming TRBT and CT - so many questions

Hi. I’m 58. At the beginning of May, I had a lot to drink at my daughter's wedding in Cyprus, and the next day I was peeing blood clots. This only lasted a day, and I didn’t drink again.
When I got back from my holiday, I contacted the doctor and gave a urine specimen which came back normal, but I still had cramps at the bottom of my bladder. The doctor told me to do a white bottle and a red bottle sample; which I did. The white came back normal and the other showed up.
According to the doctor, it wasn’t cancer but maybe an underlying form of cystitis. She referred me to the urologist, who, fortunately, was a bit quicker to respond. I had a camera put into my bladder, and there was this coral floating in there. This happened on July 14th; they said it was a tumor and looked like cancer. Also said 1-2cm and I would have a Turbt which is being done on the 5th August. I have my CT scan 28th July.
I have had no other bleeding since, but since they’ve done the camera I have felt a dull pain come and go in that side of my bladder. I would have ignored this if I didn’t know what was growing there.
I am so scared. Every morning I wake up, and my first thought is I’m going to die. All I can think is how long has it been there and is it too late, and it has spread.
Will they be able to tell me if it’s spread after the CT scan?
I have so many questions and I Google it and this just scares me even more.
Any positive info people can give me I would really appreciate it.

  1. Hi. The first positive thing is you went to get medical assistance as soon as you had symptoms. I am not medically trained but I know in my case the CT scan helped them look at the whole urinary tract and find out more about at the possible cancer. 2nd positive - all the right things are happening including the TURBT are happening. I know it all overwhelming and it is hard not to let your mind draw conclusions before information is fully known. Also the temptation to google is high but please don't. There will be all sorts of stories out there and you won't know the background of the individual cases. Here are some reliable links you might find helpful. Think of any questions you may have and write them doing for the next meeting. After CT Scan and TURBT they will have a better idea of your case and be able to discuss next steps. 1. @Tracyann - Let me start off by saying that you were certainly correct in not ignoring blood in your urine other other symptoms that were not normal for you. You are getting tested and should know much more after your CT and TURBT. I also suggest that you not over do the research as it can be scary and mind numbing. Try not to go to the worst case scenario and know that seeking medical care immediately was the best thing for you. I will say that my personal goal was to get rid of my cancer and get on with life. I never had the though of dying but only how to fight this. I am 8 years cancer free. Do not let this consume you or it will and having a positive attitude and having medical professionals that you are confident in is important. Write down any questions you have for your doctors, know that both you and your doctors will know what they are dealing with soon and try to focus on the days after your tests. Keep us posted on how things are and know that we are here to support you and know exactly what you are going through. My best Linda Urbanski (moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

      1. hi there. How are you getting on? How did the CT Scan go? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

        1. Hi Laura the CT scan was all clear it hadn’t spread just waiting to start the BCG on the 20th September and hopefully that works

          1. @Tracyann - It sounds like your doctors is on the ball so to speak and getting things moving quickly. BCG is the standard for non invasive so I hope that your treatments go well and are effective. Please keep us updated on how you are doing.
