Uretal stump

Has anyone had experience with bladder cancer in the real stump which is what’s left of the ureter after kidney removal. From what I have read it is very rare but naturally I have won that lottery and have it.
I’m told the only two options are bladder removal or a long surgery to remove the uretal stump and the cuff in the bladder. Any input would be appreciated.

  1. Hi I am glad you have reached out. I am sure this is very overwhelming and I am glad you are being an advocate for yourself. I found this article from one of our members who went through a similar experience: https://bladdercancer.net/stories/awaiting-urine-diversion. I hope your doctor is thoroughly reviewing your opinions with you, and we always recommend a second opinion if you ever have any concerns. Sending you lots of strength. Jill, bladdercancer.net team
