Is there a genetic link to bladder cancer?

Rob's Sister had breast cancer first. She had a double masectomy. Later, she had bladder cancer. Rob had neck cancer and later developed bladder cancer. Their other three Brothers have not had cancer. They are concerned if they should do a follow-up of some sort? We are curious about the bladder cancer and if anyone knows if there is a definite genetic link to it? Thanks so much, Rob and Iris

  1. Hi , im so sorry to hear cancer has been so prevalent in your loved one's family. This is a great question, yes there is a genetic link, it's called Lynch Syndrome. Similar to Rob, one of our advocates had several direct family members develop various types of cancer.

Another advocate wrote about her experience being tested for lynch syndrome.

I hope this can help your family. I know how scary this all can be. How are you two doing? - Jada (BladderCancer.net team member)
