Post TURBT & Mitomycin Lower Back Pain

Hello, had TURBT two days ago. I’m having a lot of stabbing back pain on one side around kidneys. I may have overdone it with activity (gardening). The doc says he thinks it’s “positioning.” The scans show the ureters were clear. Has anyone else dealt with this? What might it be due to?

  1. @Josef - I would suggest slowing down your activity while you heal and making sure that you are drinking plenty of water. We are not medical professionals and cannot provide medical advice but I would keep tabs on your pain and if it increases or decreases. Did you doctor say that the pain is normal and when it should be expected to subside? My best to you. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

    1. @Josef - it has been a few days since your post, are you doing better? I am not familiar with positioning. Sending a hug your way. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

      1. Thank you, Linda. The pain did settle down a day or so later. I appreciate the follow up.

        1. @Josef - Good to hear. It is always nice to have support when going through challenges and that is why we are here. Keep us updated please. My best to you. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

      2. This 100% happened to me! The worst pain! It was terrible. The nurses in post op thought I had a back spasm, but it didn't end. When I talked to my family doctor she said it was probably referred pain from where they took out the tumor. I'd been having off/on back pain on that side pre surgery, although never like that. By the end of the week it was totally gone, and it's never come back, so I assume my body was feeling the pain of the growth and then removal.
