When the post surgery screening ends

In November 21, I had my 4th and penultimate annual CT Scan. The results were all clear with continued NED (No Evidence of Disease). I was of course apprehensive waiting for the result and delighted with the outcome. However, knowing the next scan is last scan makes me nervous. The scan is like a reassurance all is ok. How do other cope when the post-operative screening ends? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

  1. - Interesting that you would bring this up. My urologist mentioned in the fall that insurance usually only pays for 10 years of follow ups unless there is any reason during those 10 years to continue. Apparently that would restart the 10 year clock. Thankfully I have been cancer free for going on 8 years now and am down to a chest xray and kidney ultrasound now. I see myself paying for continue testing after the 10 years for my own peace of mind Though I am anxious before my test results each year, I am grateful for the constant surveillance to make sure that I continue to be cancer free. Thank you for bring up this subject. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
