Prostate nodules caused by BCG

I have been on BCG for 1 yr and during my recent CT, MRI and cytoscope, nodules were observed in my prostate. My medical team is fantastic! On Tue. I had diagnostics, CT scan, MRI of my prostate and chest x-ray. On Wed I had my 3 month cytoscope. Immediately after my cytoscope my urology surgeon advised me the the MRI showed abnormalities and as I was getting dressed my surgeon told me he has already set up for biopsy with the prostate surgeon in the next hour!

Has anyone had a cytoscope and a prostate biopsy the same day?
This medical team doesn't mess around! I was told that BCG can cause nodules in the prostate around the 1 year mark.

Has anyone else experienced this BCG side effect? By the way, NED so far in the bladder!

  1. Hi - Thanks for stopping by to share about your experience. That's awesome to hear you have confidence in your medical team, from what you're saying they sure do sound fantastic!

I hope anyone who has a similar experience with prostate nodules and biopsy will stop by to share about it here.

Congrats on being NED so far with your bladder cancer!

    Take care today,

    1. I received my biopsy report 7 days later and the nodules were benign, how ever, one of the biopsies came back as cancerous and rated 6 on the Gleason scale which is the lowest rating for a low grade cancer in the prostrate. My medical team advised that no action is warranted at this time. This low grade cancer has a very low probability of becoming aggressive. They will monitor my prostrate along with my bladder during my maintenance visits. If the PSA changes or the MRI shows change it will be reevaluated. Yea !
