I am not medically trained. I also have not heard this. Have you been advised it applies to you? Laura, Moderator, BladderCancer.net

I personally am not a bladder cancer patient. Mom began taking allopurinol to lower her uric acid levels when she was in the throes of her bladder cancer battle. What brought about this question for you? I hope you are well! Charles (Moderator / BladderCancer.net)

@CommunityMember794f1a - Have you discussed this possible link with your doctors ? I am not a medical professional and so I have no experience on this. I did not have the regular risk factors for bladder cancer and no one in my family has ever been diagnosed with any form of cancer. I did grow up in an era where we were surrounded by 2nd hand smoke so maybe that caused mine. I hope that you are able to have treatments to remove the cancer again and hope that you are NED - no evidence of disease after that. We do know that this cancer can come back quickly and with a vengeance though so continued testing is important. Wishing you the best outcome. @CommunityMember794f1a - I am not familiar with this medication and have not personally heard of anyone discussing this with their cancer diagnosis. My best to you. Linda Urbanski (moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)
