Need for BCG

Diagnosed 5 months ago and have had three TURBT. First pathology was invasive of the bladder lining and the second was not. Urologist had me on the "wait list' for BCG. When it became available, I was called in for a cystoscopy and another tumor was found. After that 3rd TURBT, the urologist indicated there was still no BCG, but because of the progression of the 3rd tumor, I wouldn't need BCG anyway. Does this ring true or make sense for BCG to be called for, and then not?

  1. Hi I wanted to check in on you and see how things are going? What are the next steps with your doctor? Jill (Team Member)

  2. Had an April cystoscopy and then my 4th TURBT 10 days ago for 3 new tumors. I had already, before surgery, scheduled an appointment for a 2d opinion of my treatment plan thus far. That Dr. yesterday, after reviewing my four pathology reports, disagreed with the call for "no BCG" treatment and his practice does have access to BCG. After sleeping on it, I've decided to move to the new practice and have scheduled a cystoscopy with them in 3 weeks. Thanks for asking.

    1. I am so glad you got a second opinion and you feel comfortable with the new practice and approach. Please keep us posted on your cystoscopy, I hope everything goes smoothly for you. Jill (Team Member)

  3. Thanks for your wishes. I felt like I was facing TURBT and general anesthesia every couple months and that's not a good path for a 79 year old like me. I'm unsure if the BCG therapy will indeed change that, but at least in my mind, I'll be leveraging what I can as a preventative.

    1. I could understand how facing TURBT and general anesthesia would be very overwhelming every couple of months. That is a lot to have to cope with. I really hope the BCG therapy will help you. Sending you hugs and support leading up to your cystoscopy. Jill (Team Member)
