Speck of Blood in urine

My mother just came back from a routine follow up cysto appointment - doctor said everything looks good. Her next cysto appointment is March 2022. Her last BCG treatment was December 2020.

The urine test they do during the routine follow up, showed a speck of blood. They are sending it to be checked. Naturally I am now thinking the worst. Can that speck be nothing?

  1. @Sorsha - We are not medical people and therefore cannot provide medical advice but I think the fact that it is being checked out just to be sure is the way to go. Not everyone has blood in their urine as a symptoms of bladder cancer - I was one of those people. And other things can cause blood so I am sure you will be relieved to have an answer to why there is a speck. Please let us know how things turn out as we are here for support whenever needed. My best to you and your mother. Linda ( moderator, Bladdercancer.net team member)

    1. Hi , it's very hard to tell. I know how anxiety-inducing this can be. I think the best thing to do is wait and see what the doctors say. One step at a time. Your mom is so lucky to have you by her side. How are you doing? Hope you're able to find some time to care for yourself in such a stressful period. Please keep us posted with your mom's updates. Sending you my absolute best. - Jada (BladderCancer.net team member)
