BCG not needed?

Had two TURBT procedures in Aug and Sept last year and was on a "wait list" for BCG therapy. Had another TURBT in January and now the urologists indicated that because of the pathology of the last, I don't need BCG or to be on a wait list. This left me confused. Can anyone confirm or shed light on his conclusion? Thank you.

  1. This article might help you to shed some light onto the shortage. It happened back in 2019 but it looks like it is flaring up again. https://bladdercancer.net/news/update-bcg-shortage If there's anything else we can do to help provide info, let us know and, as always, you are not alone! 2. Same thing happened to me last Fall, communitymember2f249d. The urologist said there was a shortage and because I was doing well, I didn't need to have BCG at this time. Since I wanted to continue the protocol, we discussed it further and he offered to give me 1/3rd the dose three times so that others could have BCG. In my last round of maintenance BCG around the first of this year, I was told there was not a shortage at that time, so I received the full dose 3x.

  3. Thanks Lou. I go next week for a 3 month cystoscopy so I've fingers crossed that I'll be clear.

    1. Hi! Me again. Ha ha. Just wanted to let you know we ALSO have articles about cystoscopy experiences as well in case that's something you may be interested in! https://bladdercancer.net/living/my-cystoscopy-experience If not, that's fine too! You can always come here just to share and be heard! Keep on keepin' on, DPM
