Treatment

I was diagnosed with low-grade bladder cancer last summer and had my first TURBT in August. By January I had new tumors, early-stage, and had another TURBT. At that time I received a chemo treatment into my bladder during the surgery. In March I started 6 weeks of BCG. At my follow-up appt last week, there were 2 new "spots," which the doctor described as low-grade. He gave me the option of scheduling another TURBT now or waiting 3 months and checking again. He does not think these "spots" will grow into the muscle by then, so I opted for the 3 months. Now I'm second-guessing my decision, wondering if it is the right one. Anyone else have similar experience? I had no side effects or discomfort from the BCG. The only side effect I've had came from the one chemo treatment.

  1. I am in the same position but for lymphoma actually but otherwise same - they found a spot, asked if I wanted to wait three months or biopsy. I said to myself if they think I can wait three months I should be fine and now I am waiting until the end of June and trying not to think about it. It is definitely something that takes a mental toll, you are not alone in that. For me, though, I just tell myself that if they thought it was that serious they would have given me different options. Just know, nomatter what, you are not alone! Keep on keepin 'on, DPM

  2. Thank you. Prayers for you as you wait. My husband had Hodgkins lymphoma in 2001, and my son had nasal NK T-cell lymphoma in 2020. They are both fine now. I hope that gives you encouragement.
